The Mexican visual artist Ilana Boltvinik’s work is focused on explorations of inter and transdisciplinary art. Her work uses elements of science and anthropology to generate new community based social dialogues. Her work additionally utilizes aspects of technology, biology, public spaces and trash.

Ilana Boltvinik has held residencies in Holland, Canada and Venezuela and has received numerous fellowships and grants such as FONCA and the Ministerio de Cultura Holandesa y Fundación de Arte Emeregente. Her work has been presented in more than 15 solo and 30 group international exhibitions. In addition to her exhibited work as a visual artist Ilana has published more that 15 articles in journals, art magazines and books.

Ilana Boltvinik is currently a full time professor in the University of Claustro de Sor Juana. Ilana is also part of the art collective TRES in which Ilana that affords her the opportunity to talk about more diverse concerns such as science, fractals, the micro and the macro, social health, bacteria, and taking these engagements into a daily practice with different communities in Mexico City.
