California based installation artist, sculptor and photographer Will Rogan will visit the University of Maine

On Tuesday November 8th California based installation artist, sculptor and photographer Will Rogan will visit the University of Maine as a part of “Tuesdays at the IMRC”, the Intermedia MFA visiting artist series.

Will Rogan is a sculptor and photographer. His work deals with the passing of time, the materiality and history of objects, and our relationship to matter and images. Will uses the physical world as a sculptural medium to examine the potential for beauty, manipulation and function in art making. His works addresses “things that are quiet in nature, but can be described by a larger idea.” Through photography, installation and sculpture, Will’s work uses the mundane and simple contrasts found in life to find meaning in everyday objects and the human experience. Will is represented by Altman Siegel Gallery, San Francisco and Misako Rosen Gallery, Tokyo. He is a past recipient of the SECA Award, a fellow of the MacArthur Foundation Media Arts Fellowship.

Will’s work is in the public collections of the SFMOMA, the Berkeley Art Museum, and the Oakland Museum of Art. Will is also the co-founder and co-editor of THE THING Quarterly, an experimental art publication. To learn more about Will’s work, visit http://altmansiegel.com/artists/will-rogan/.
