Community Garden Installation at University of Maine Sustainability House
Orono, Maine – Volunteers from the University of Maine and surrounding communities are invited to participate in the creation of a community garden at UMaine’s Terrell House Permaculture Living & Learning Center (PLLC) on April 27.
The free public event, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at 491A College Ave., in Orono, will launch the permaculture demonstration site, where people can learn low-maintenance, sustainable cultivation techniques while building a community garden that will be used by students, organizations and the broader community.

Terrell House PLLC, a collaboration between the University of Maine Office of Sustainability and the nonprofit Stillwater SHIFT, Inc., provides space for educational events, sustainability research and resident stewardship. The community garden project at Terrell House has received support from UMaine Facilities Management, Graduate Student Government, the Intermedia MFA Program and Environmental Studies Coalition, as well as Argyle Acres farm.
