WEIR FARM ART CENTER

“The Artist in Residence program (AIR) selects twelve artists to live and work at Weir Farm each year. To date, 140 artists from throughout the U.S., as well as Tunisia, Germany, Australia, India, South Africa and The Netherlands have participated in the AIR program. Visual artists apply for one month residencies in all media and diverse artistic points of view from traditional to experimental. “The Patterson Residency Program provides a highly visible, intense and creative environment for the production of artwork in all media.
Attracting artists from around Baltimore and the nation, the program is located at The Patterson, a historic former movie theater converted into a vibrant, community-based art center, with generous workspace and facilities and an atmosphere of ongoing critical feedback.
The Residency Program accommodates 8 resident artists or artist groups, one in each of the studios, for terms of one to three years. It is intended for emerging artists as well as mid-career artists whose goal is to reinvigorate their work in an intensive atmosphere. “House Guests is an artists-in-residence and exhibition program that celebrates the history of the Garrett family, collectors and patrons of the arts, who hosted artists and musicians at their Evergreen estate during the first half of the 20th century. Every year Evergreen opens its doors to an artist and invites them to use the collections, the architecture and the grounds to practice in place. House Guests offers the public new ways to see and understand this historic place through the work of contemporary artists.
The House Guests Artist-in-Residence program provides housing, individual studio, and a stipend, allowing the artist the time and space to produce new work in a visually and culturally rich setting. One residency is awarded every year.” See website for more details.

“Montpelier Arts Center has 16 resident artists. They work in a diverse variety of media and styles. All are professional artists and several teach in the class program at Montpelier.
