About the Exhibition:
Concurrent with the 2013 Portland Museum of Art Biennial: Piece Work, the museum presents Amy Stacey Curtis: 9 walks. 9 walks will consist of nine video projections, each an exploration of movement in time and space, via the motif of a walk in the woods. Curtis has created six new video works that all derive from her experiences taking a walk on or near her home in rural Maine. Projections will be installed throughout the PMA for visitors to experience as they make their way through the museum’s most trafficked public spaces. She has created independent interactive installations at several Maine mills as part of an 18-year project of biennial solo exhibitions, and has had exhibitions at the Colby College Museum of Art and the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, among other institutional venues. She is Assistant Professor in the Intermedia MFA Program at the University of Maine, Orono, and has been awarded myriad honors, including grants from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and the Maine Arts Commission.
