“MAYHEM” National Juried Exhibition  –  Deadline: February 24, 2013

Join in our madness, mischief, and monkey business with the aim to create pandemonium, chaos, and discord. Liberal interpretations of the theme are encouraged.  Let the mayhem begin!

CATEGORIES ACCEPTED
Sculpture, painting, drawing, photo, printmaking, ceramics, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist book. This exhibition cannot accept jewelry, video, film, performance art, installation and works requiring an external electrical source.

JUROR:  Alan Bamberger
Alan Bamberger is a San Francisco-based art consultant, advisor, author and independent appraiser.  He specializes in research, appraisal, as well as all business and market aspects of original works of art, artist manuscript materials, art-related documents, and art reference books. JUROR’S AWARD
A Juror’s Award ribbon and certificate will be presented to three works that express the most imaginative interpretation of the “Mayhem” theme.

GALLERY & ON-LINE GALLERY
There are two opportunities to get into this show. The juror will select works that will be exhibited in the Arc Gallery at 1246 Folsom Street and on the Arc On-line Gallery. The juror will also select works that will be shown in the Arc On-line gallery only. This allows for more works to be seen beyond the 1,000 square feet physical limitation of the gallery.

CATALOG
All artwork selected will be included in the exhibition catalog available for sale through Lulu.com.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION     
Works must be submitted online before midnight (in your time zone) on February 24, 2013, to be considered by juror. Please go to Arc Call for Submissions athttp://www.arc-sf.com/submissions.html.

ELIGIBILITY
Artists residing in the United States.

ARTWORK MAXIMUM SIZE
2-Dimensional Work: Height 9 feet, Width 4 feet – including frame
3-Dimensional Work: Must fit pedestal sized 16” x 16” or take up no more than 4 feet of gallery floor space.

ARTWORK PRESENTATION
Artworks must arrive “ready to hang” and be presented professionally. Framed artwork must use black wood or natural wood frame. No color mats. No glass, plexi only.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Provide a statement about how your work relates to the title of the show.

IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS
Submit JPG images sized approximately 4 inches wide x 6 inches long at 300 dpi resolution. In order to upload successfully, your image must be at least 1200 pixels wide. The maximum uploadable file size is 8 megabytes. High-resolution images are requested for printed publicity of accepted works. Works displayed on-line will be reduced to web-standard low resolution by Arc. All images must be submitted in RGB color mode. You will NOT be able to upload images in CMYK. Your JPG file name must be Artist’s Last Name, under-score, and Title. Example: Smith_ScratchMarks2.JPG

NON-REFUNDABLE ENTRY FEE
Payment of $35 per entry.  Each entry at $35 includes up to three submitted works or images. Each artist is allowed up to two entries of three each for a total of six submitted works or images.  Each entry can be up to three distinct submitted works, or up to three multiple images of the same piece.Credit card payment through Paypal only. You do not need a Paypal account to pay through Paypal.

SELECTION OF WORK
The juror will select works that will be on display at the Arc Gallery on 1246 Folsom Street. These works will also be on display in the Arc on-line gallery. Additionally, the juror will select works that will be shown in the Arc on-line gallery only. This allows for more works to be seen beyond the 1,000 square feet physical limitation of the gallery.

NOTIFICATION TO ARTISTS
Artists will be notified by March 29th, 2013. All artists who have submitted artwork will be notified by email. You may receive multiple notifications for acceptance into the Arc Gallery and On-Line Gallery. You will receive notification if no artwork has been selected. If you do not receive notice by March 29th, please check your email spam folder and contact us if you do not hear from Arc.

HAND-DELIVERY OF ARTWORK
Tuesday, April 30th 5-7PM & Wednesday, May 1st 12-2PM, 2013 – IF YOUR ARTWORK IS ACCEPTED FOR THE ONLINE GALLERY ONLY, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DELIVER YOUR ARTWORK.

SHIPPING OF ARTWORK
All shipped artwork must be received by April 26th, 2013. Shipped works will be shipped back by June 1st, 2013.  Work must be sent in reusable packaging with no styrofoam packing peanuts. Arc Gallery is not responsible for damage caused in transit. Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping and arranging prepaid shipping labels with either UPS or FedEx. It is mandatory to include prepaid shipping labels with your artwork or your work will not be exhibited. – IF YOUR ARTWORK IS ACCEPTED FOR THE ONLINE GALLERY ONLY, YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHIP YOUR ARTWORK.

INSURANCE & LIABILITY
Artwork is insured only while on the premises of Arc Studios & Gallery from May 1st to June 1st, 2013, and according to the terms of our fine arts insurance policy. The coverage is limited to the fair market value of the artwork or $2,000, whichever is less.

PICK-UP OF ARTWORK
Saturday, May 25th 3-4PM & Sunday, May 26th 12-1PM. Artwork left behind may be subject to late fee of $50 per day and/or discarded by Arc Gallery.

SALES OF ART
60% of the sale will go to the artists, 40% of the sale will go to Arc. Items sold must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. Arc will mail a check to the artist for any sold artwork within six weeks after the close of the show.

ABOUT ARC
Arc Studios & Gallery is a mixed-use art center in San Francisco’s South of Market district consisting of a 1,000 sq. ft. art gallery, two alternative exhibition spaces, art education center, ten artist studios, offices for Kearny Street Workshop and San Francisco Artist Network, and Vega Blue Bottle Coffee kiosk and Creme Brulee Shop. Several of the artists selected in our juried exhibitions have been invited to participate in additional shows by visiting jurors and gallerists.
