IMFA / IMRC Visiting Artists – Spring 2016

The Innovative Media Research & Commercialization Center (IMRC) and the Intermedia MFA program, on the campus of the University of Maine, is excited to announce its Spring 2016 artist lecture series, known as Tuesdays at the IMRC, which will feature visiting artists of various mediums, faculty presentations, and movie nights. This series provides the University community an opportunity to meet and learn from artists of differing backgrounds. Artists will perform, give workshops, and conduct graduate student studio visits.

Patrick Killoran will open the series on February 2nd, 2016 at 7p.m. Patrick Killoran is an American artist who works in a variety of contexts and mediums. Since the mid 1990s, his work has addressed consumerism’s effect on conceptions of public space. Much of his work explores the inevitable contradictions that arise with the terms “public space” and “public art,” in the realm of the products and the behaviors of consumer culture.

Other presentations include a short-format animation night hosted by Gene Felice, a screening of Fantastic Planet, and visits from Sheila Pepe, Gaelyn and Gustvo Aguilar, Dr. Marcelo Wanderley and others. The series will also host a Graduate Student Review, in which first and second year Intermedia MFA students will present their works-in-progress in a public forum.

All presentations will take place at the IMRC Center at the University of Maine at 7pm, and are free and open to the public.
