New Media & Intermedia Students projection map the Thomas Hill Standpipe!

Last Monday, New Media & Intermedia students taking our NMD 430 / IMD 530 Projection Mapping class led by Gene A. Felice II, had the rare and wonderful opportunity to projection map the Bangor Standpipe. This was a test for a future event that we’ll be partnering on with the Bangor Water dept. later in the Spring of 2016. We were able to cover two thirds of the “Crown of the Queen City” via two projectors facing to different zones of the structure.  They threaded / blended together beautifully due to the curved surface of the standpipe and the imagery was stunning due to it’s flat white surface.  We had folks stop by from as far away as Brewer, that caught a glimpse of this iconic structure covered in light and color.  Special thanks to the Bangor Water dept. for giving us access to such a historic and architectural treasure. It was a cold night, but the imagery and projectors looked great and all the students brought together unique ideas that revolved around the theme of water.  Special thanks as well to Nathan Ober for helping us document the event.
